Economic development is a complex and multifactorial concept that can mean different things to different people in different countries; there is no common definition of the term. We define economic development as a qualitative, positive, and inclusive change in an economy aimed at the reproduction of the economy. Since it is not effective to assess the level of economic development of countries through the GDP or other macroeconomic indicators, the Economic Development Index can be used to measure economic development based on different indicators expressing development in the respective economies.
